Local Projects
Upper Stewiacke Community Development Association
The Upper Stewiacke Community Development
Association, working in conjunction with CoRDA staff and
the local community, is well on its way to developing a
strategy and action plan for the area. Over fifty people
have joined together through focus group sessions and a
town hall meeting to establish priorities they want to address
over the next few years. USCDA is now in the process of
organizing voluntary task teams for each of the ten priorities.
The number one priority “to support local businesses,
especially in the agricultural sector and explore opportunities
for business start-ups, particularly in tourism” is
now underway.

Tatamagouche Creamery Development Plan
The Village of Tatamagouche is drawing
much closer to developing “ a star attraction”
at the Creamery site, located along the picturesque waterfront
in Tatamagouche. Ten community groups have joined together
to create a multi-purpose complex that will provide facilities
for museums, archives, farmer’s market, an art gallery
and performing arts center. With confirmation of required
funding, the Creamery Square Association will initiate Phase
1 of a 3-Phased project. In Phase 1, an existing shed will
be converted to a permanent home for the Tatamagouche Farmer’s
Market. CoRDA staff will continue to assist CSA in accessing
funding to complete the remaining phases of the project.
